New Album - Stay Foolish, Stay Hungry

October, 2007

Stay Foolish, Stay Hungry is available for your pleasuring. Available at many digital retailers including iTunes or you can purchase CD's here.

June 22, 2007

an update is in order. the cd has been done for a little bit now, with some masterful mastering by Collin Jordan over at Boilerroom. and i've been waiting and waiting and wating for steve walters over at Screwball to do our CD artwork. well the fucker flaked on me, artists. Lucky for me my friend Steve Krakow from Plastic Crimewave, The Intergalactic Zoo Dossier and misc other strange projects popped into my mind. fantastically he agreed to draw our artwork, and i'm sure in short order we'll have pure visual genius on our hands. oh, and look at these pictures i took of his house... he's strange... BiTri - 11ish

w/ The Winter Sounds

a break it down acoustic show with just Bohb and Jason, it was lovely and set a new record for 'intimate' performance. that means there was nobody there. i think i'll post an mp3 of a tune here anyway.

3 songs from The Pontiac: Show What You're Made Of, Part of Being Bad and LiKe a Dog. a themed mini set for like the one person in the know.

Kinetic Playground

very excited to play with SYGC, as we love their tunes. and for once we get to play with a band where we aren't going to seem like a bunch of pansies. looking forward to the psychedlic beauty, bring your pills and thrills, save the bellyaches for the next morning.

Double Door

May 17, 2006

Doors 8pm, BiTri 10pm

w/ The Assembly & 2 other bands

we are excited to be playing with our friends The Assembly who's new CD Commencement is freshly out (plug plug), they are opening up the show at 9pm, so get there early. We will be tarted up in our new stellar 6 strong lineup, so don't miss the show. If you bring party favors, make sure you have enough to share with the rest of the class.

post note: lovely night, who could have predicted it would go all the way to underbar... here's some video highlights from the show: 5am Nights, Generally Connected & Far Out

Chicago Cultural Center

March 30, 2006 - Noon

What a special classy event for you bi, tri fans. This show will feature a reinvention of our set list into piano driven classiness. What a stretch for us.

p.s. this one turned out to be really fun, thanks to everyone who came out. Brian, sorry i broke the piano...

Our super amazing media blitzing drummer Jason got interviewed by some strange person. Read it HERE - JASON BATCHKO INTERVIEW

Cubby Bear

Friday Feb 24, 2006

VIDEO footage from Cubby Bear 2.24.06

w/ Cisco Pike & Smush

LMP Mandatory late night session, a rock and roll greasy night with shamefull looks tomorrow. We're going big time with the six piece band. Special guest star John San Juan joins bitri to sex up our gtr sounds. This is a Coors and Q101 show, and coincidentally we are in some silly online voting contest at Q101 right now that i'm quite sure isn't worth a bother.

P.S. - this turned out to be a blast of a show, everybody was great and fun was had by all. you looked hot. you know you did.

I made a little video for my friends Cisco Pike from footage at the show. Check it out HERE

Chicago's Finest Hour

December 1, 2005

The Hideout w/ Suzy Brack and the New Jack Lords. Eric Ziegenhagen

VIDEO - of bi, tri's acoustic set

This was a very fun show. we previewed new songs from Stay Foolish Stay Hungry while getting treated to covers by Eric and Suzy. Check out videos of Eric doing 'Is There Nothing Stronger' and Suzy Brack doing 'Reality Doesn't Just Numb Itself'

Real as You Believe - Reviewed finally

November 14, 2005

thanks to Alan Haber over at Buhdge.com for his glowing review of our new album. I'm pretty sure Alan is the best writer with the best taste in music of all time right now. Go check it out here: http://www.buhdge.com/hot_buhdge/bicycle_tricycle.htm

Record Release Show

w/ Big Evil Grin, La Tee Da (featuring members of Midstates) and Small Creatures

This was our first show with our new three piece lineup; Rhodes, Bass & Drums. Rachel Illarde and Nina sang wonderful backup and we all had a good time drinking mushroom juice after the show. Good times were had by all. Tom, I'd like to do it again.

The Principle Induction

9.3.05

Our latest album The Principle Induction is available and for sale. Of course it is amazing. Sales through iTunes and other online retailers will be available within a few weeks. Go to our AUDIO page to download some preview MP3's, or better yet CLICK HERE and go buy the darn thing.

Misc Video Footage

I've been importing in some video footage i've found in a box. They range from 2002 to 2004 and feature a variety of line ups. Obviously it has been difficult to find much that isn't horrifying, but that's what editing is for. As I get them together I will upload them to the site, linked to from one place or another. I don't really see myself making a streaming video page or anything, (if any of you want to do that by the way i'm very willing to be helped by an html benefactor). Here's the first one, a unicycle performance from 2002, the day after Christmas. wow. Did Time.2 from the 10111 record.

SXSW

March 17-21, 2005

no, i'm not playing a showcase. but i'll be there you bastards. so watch out for me. If you want to sign me for millions my mp3's are right here to tantalize you.

Double Door

November 23, 2004 9pm

w/ Dummy, the Decibators & Viceroy

A very interesting show... Dummy drew a big crowd and Viceroy featured a friend of mine I was unaware was playing. Of course everybody else was tough guy hard rock, and your friends bi, tri were complete wusses. This was also my first attempt at playing with a full live band (and no backing tracks) and no video screen in quite a while. We were OK, but I don't think we blew anybody's mind. I'm also pretty sure my good friends Randy and Skid played pool through our entire set. I don't really blame them.

Recording Update

June 1, 2004

I didn't want any of you (my faithful public) to think that I was sitting on my laurels. No sir-e-bohb. There has been much recording and studio trickery going on here at Background Recordings on the new album Principle Induction. I've sent three songs out to Jonny Polonsky in LA to add some of his guitar wizardry. I've had backing vocal recording sessions with Rachel Ilarde and Jennifer Peterson in the last few weeks. And I'm adding all those little extra somethings that you only hear in headphones on the 23rd listen. It's what makes it fun. But what I am trying hard not to do is overtinker. I mean let's face it, the album already sounds pure genius so I shouldn't mess with it too much.

Double Door

April 27, 2004

w/ Heavenly States

we played with the Heavenly States last month at The Abbey, it was lovely. There was another band on the bill Terminal Bliss who I was not aware of prior to the show. They were great, kinda like Duran Duran for the goth set. There were many leather clad angry people in the audience as well.

Subterranean

April 17, 2004

AVExplo

w/ Midstates and many many others

7:30pm - DJ jorge
8:00pm - Seagreen Incorruptible
8:30pm - That One Guy
9:05pm - Bicycle Tricycle
9:45pm - Midstates
10:30pm - Alan Astor
11:15pm - Consafos
12:00am - Mixel Pixel
12:45am - Danger Adventure

so this is supposed to be a show of all multimedia artists and artsy wierd pretentious stuff. so i'm hoping we'll fit in. I mean sure we are the total pansies on a rock bill, but if these are art students then we'll surely be beaten down. I really like the Midstates who got us involved in this show, so I'm sure it will be psychedelic (which is weird because they claim to not use drugs...).

The Abbey

March 6, 2004

w/ Ladies and Gentlemen, Twilight Babies, Cloud Cult & Heavenly States

This should be fun, Tom and Randy went to NYC with Cisco Pike and Annie isn't available. So Dan and I are being joined by Jason Batchko from The Girls and Zach Schneider from The Webb Brothers who have thankfully stepped in to help out. We will be rehearsing only once the day before the show, so I have not actually witnessed the exact genius level that will be unveiled. I am going to once again bring out the new multimedia sync track action, so hopefully it won't be a nightmare to set up. Also on the bill is the new Box-O-Car Skid Marks fronted band The Ladies and Gentlemen, who I may jump up and play some keys with. All the other bands are touring, I've played with the Twilight Babies before, they are from Detroit and quite lovely.

Double Door

February 11, 2004

w/ Ivory Wire & American Cosmonaut

I've set a couple goals for this show, the first is I talked Randy into ditching the drumset and playing a small little gray box instead (DK10); secondly I'm attempting to render a video backdrop that is synced to our performance. Yet another field for me to be a dangerous amateur. Ivory Wire is the next generation Dovetail Joint guys, and I'm looking forward to seeing what American Cosmonaut are all about.

Double Door

October 31, 2003

annual Halloween Show

w/ Fig Dish

I'm pretty sure nobody expected our hero bohb to be fronting Fig Dish for this year's annual cover fest at Double Door. And I can guarantee that nobody, the band included, was prepared for the channeling of curedom that transpired on this night. But rest assured, the task will always be complete, no matter what medications are required.

Schuba's

October 27, 2003

w/ Ness & Cisco Pike

Thanks to Ness for inviting us to be part of their residency at Schuba's. This whole residency thing has gotten very popular around the city. After the first show the band seems to mellow into the performance and be less concerned about draw or playing the best song first. Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing what Ness has in store for us. Needless to say Cisco Pike (whom Ness and I jested to them should be called 'Lucas Stage Right') will grace us with their endearing brand of rocking. Thank god we are going first.

New Material-Recording

August 13, 2003

I've been real excited about the new song 'Bad Luck (to be superstitious)' and now there's even more to love. The illustrious Matt Walker recording good times disco drums on the track and now it is ready for world domination. I've put a special mp3 preview of the song on our Audio page. Full length full quality so go download it!

Bottom Lounge

July 9, 2003

w/ Webb Brothers & Kevin Tihista's Red Terror

This performance will actually be a Unicycle show. For those who can't put it together Unicycle is when I play solo. I promise to be comfortable, as typically I bring a couch on stage. And yes I do realize this is quite a bit of Bottom Lounge shows right in a row, but what are you going to do when they have the most cool shows?

Bottom Lounge - Post Show

A big big thank you to all the guest musicians that played for the special keyboard ensemble, the show went fantastically. Guest Players: Annie Bangs, Preston Graves, Skid Marks, Pat McIntyre, Tom Szidon, Chris Thies. As well as steller stalwarts Randy Payne and Dan Polonsky. We had a smashing good time playing this show.

Bottom Lounge

Mobfest Showcase

Saturday June 21, 2003

doors 9pm - bi, tri 11pm

with EXO, Bizarebies and Ivory Coast

this is a Mobfest showcase which is always an interesting week of rocking in Chicago. This bill should be fun because I really like EXO and have heard great things about the Bizarbies. Ivory Coast will have to be a surprise. For our part, I can promise a totally different one-time lineup, featuring no guitars, no bass guitar and all keyboards. It will be a spectacle to be sure. In addition to our returning champions Randy Payne (drums) and Dan Polonsky (bass keyboard) we will be featuring guest performers Chris Thies, Pat McIntyre, Skid Marks, Tom Szidon and Preston Graves on 5 keyboards. Our little keyboard orchestra will be sure to entertain.

NEW EP IN THE WORKS

bicycle, tricycle has been hard at work recording our new EP The Law of Fives. In addition to our regular players this EP features guest performances by Tom Szidon, Preston Graves, Annie Bangs and the illustrious Matt Walker. Watch for it soon.

Bottom Lounge

Thursday May 1, 2003

doors 8pm - bi, tri 9pm

with 2 Skinnee J's

If we don't get our buts kicked for being pansies this will be a great show. I anticipate some sort of Keytar duel between myself and Stevie Spice (if he's man enough). Either way I anticipate good times and poor album sales.

Abbey Pub

Saturday Feb 1, 2003

doors 9pm - bi, tri 11pm

with Impossible Recording Machine & Twilight Babies

Well I know I'm excited because this will be the first show that I be rid of my rocker guitar and strap on the power of my new Roland AX7. For those that aren't aware this is the keyboard that you may remember from Prince videos and slanderous 'Keytar' ribbing. It shall serve as my weapon in this electopop war. Or at least I'll look dated & totally gay (no, I mean in a homosexual way), either way it sounds positive.

I'm also excited to play with Impossible Recording Machine featuring Matt Walker who I toured with while working for the Cupcakes. Twilight Babies hail from Detroit and other than sounding like Portishead in a very good way I don't know much about them.

Double Door

12/26/02

Special solo Unicycle performance

with RCB, NIL8, Jesus and the Devil

that's right folks, nothing erases Xmas from you mind like a good dose of electro fun with Unicycle. This show required comfort so I brought a couch and coffee table onstage to make it a bit more homey.

Q101

bicycle, tricycle will be interviewed on the Local 101 show with Chris Payne on Sunday 11/17/02. We will discuss how amazing our new record is and play a couple of tracks for proof. The show airs at 9pm on Sunday nights on Q101 (101.1).

Lakeview Links

11/22/02

Record Release Show

with The Cells, The Countdown

We are very excited to do a release show after all this time. Perhaps you question our choice of venue? Well this club has been revitalizing their booking this year and thus giving Chicago another great room to rock within. Also, we were able to have this night featuring all bands in the bicycle, tricycle 'family' which makes it a much more special night. The Countdown is the brainchild of Tamar Berk (Starball) and Steve Denekas, and is not to be missed. And of course you all know our pop star friends The Cells fresh back from their tour (featuring a stop at CMJ) to play with us on this excellent evening of rock and roll excitement.

Halloween at Double Door

10/30/02

Throwing caution to the wind bicycle, tricycle will be playing at this years annual Double Door Halloween Bash. As usual Local H will headline the show with Chicago's rank & file swallowing their pride for the amusement of drunk hipsters, my favorite night of the year. Personally this will be my fourth year being part of the show, previously playing with my band, bohb. This year bicycle, tricycle will triumph as the rockin balladeer... Meatloaf.

(cont)

the joke thickens... Q101 called and wants us to perform our set as Meatloaf live in the Lava Lamp Love Lounge (their in-house recording studio) We'll be recording on 10/26 so they can air the Loaf during the Local 101 show on Sunday 10/27. Make sure you listen.

(cont)

we had a great time playing the show at double door, a special thank-you to Chris Payne from Q101 for coming out and performing the all important 'Radio Sportscaster' roll during the Meatloaf song 'Paradise by the Dashboard lights'. At great risk to his personal health (hey you never know) and certainly his reputations he triumphed. Everybody else was quite fun to watch as well. I certainly now have (as David le Roth) Geoff's ass emblazoned against my will in a small part of my mind that can come to haunt me at any moment.

10111

The record is finally done and is in the process of being mastered by Ken Sluiter at Western Soundlabs. Against all recommendation the album will feature 23 fine bicycle, tricycle tracks, and come in at an aching 73 minutes. Of course the album will be available here for purchase shortly.

(cont.)

The record at this point has been duplicated and thanks to our friend Steve Denekas features really amazing looking artwork. I'm being very indie rock by stuffing tray sleeves, folding booklets and generally being a one-man CD factory while watching my favorite movie, Motorama. I think it would be a good enough reason to get signed to a label just so someone else gets to do this part. I still need to finish the lyric booklet so I can start selling the CD's off of this site and at shows. Of course I will need 1000's to keep up with the initial demand so I've got my work cut out for me. If you live in the Chicago area and are interested in getting some keen insight into the complicated world of CD booklet folding send me an email, I believe our internship program has a few openings.

Radio Play

The song 'Sweat & Jeans' was played on JVO's show Sunday @ Midnight, Sept. 8. The show is aired on 94.7 'The Zone'. Also the song 'Everytime' was played on Q101's Local 101 show on Sept 1.

Hideout

September 4, 2002

with The Girls , Torben Floor & The Straw Straws

Chicago's Finest Hour

Chicago's Finest Hour shows are an interesting live music series where the performing bands cover each other's songs rather than play their own. It is at times excellent to embarrassing both for the performers and the poor bands who have to watch their songs either get played better than they can or massacred. bicycle, tricycle has the great pleasure of doing treatment to 1 fine song by The Girls. For the fans it's 'Do it All Over Again'.

Gunther Murphy's

Doors: 10pm bicycle, tricycle: 12:30am

Triple Fast Action Tribute CD

bicycle, tricycle will have a track featured on the still unnamed tribute CD to Triple Fast Action being released by Chip Midnight and his Swizzle-Stick music conglomerate. The CD promises to have many exciting contributions from a variety of bands, most of whom are from Chicago. Check his page at Swizzle-Stick for news. We took a lot of liberties with 'The Rescue' to put our own spin on the song. We are eager for the CD's release to see what the rest of you think.
